Volunteer of the Quarter: Anastasia

Mutt Militia, meet Anastasia, our volunteer of the quarter! Anastasia has been volunteering with Marley’s Mutts for the past 5 months. She has always had a special place in her heart for dogs and had been following Marley’s Mutts for quite some time when she finally found a little extra time to become a volunteer. Anastasia’s favorite part of volunteering with Marley’s Mutts is just hanging out with the dogs and giving them all of her attention, from snuggles and walks to throwing the ball for them. She wants each dog to feel special and loved during her time with them.  “Volunteering is the best feeling ever! Every time I leave the Ranch, my heart is so full of joy! The bond that you can create with the dogs are unlike any other.” Anastasia has a 9 year old terrier mix, Emma, and a 1 year old pit shepherd mix, Arnold. Aside from volunteering she enjoys snowboarding, cross fit and most of all, her 5 year old daughter, Scarlett.

Thank you, Anastasia for sharing your time with Marley’s Mutts!

There’s not much more majestic than a Shepherd. Toby is about as beautiful as they come. This guy is big, gorgeous and active!

Toby found himself at Kern County Animal Services after he’d been picked up as a stray. We don’t know  why his family didn’t come for him but we were thankful we had room at the ranch to help.

Toby is a very young, active and strong shepherd who has had very little guidance and training before arriving to us. We’ve been working on his leash manners and basic obedience skills and his future family will need to continue to work on these skills we’ve started with him. His ideal home would have large dog experience and a strong pack leader that can ensure Toby understands the rules and boundaries of the home. He is not good with other animals and very reactive when he sees them. He’ll need to be the only animal in his future adoptive home.

If you’ve been looking for a big, beautiful, protective shepherd Toby is your boy! Apply today

Bella has a bit of a story and has been a repeat visitor at Kern County Animal Services. 9 visits to be exact and those were just the visits at the county shelter. Rumor has it she’s also visited our city shelter. You might be wondering why she’s gotten out so much. Well her family has an a disabled child who we guess was accidentally letting Bella out. Bella is very lucky that she was never hit by a car on her adventures. Life on the streets is no life for any dog. We are so thankful we can give Bella the chance at a safer life.

Bella can be a runner, as her previous history has shown, so a home that can keep her safely contained will be a must. She also doesn’t do well with cats and is reactive to dogs so a home as an only pet would be ideal for her. Her reactivity to other dogs includes leash reactivity if she sees other animals when out on walks. Other than her issues with other animals she is sweet, gentle and calm and would make an ideal companion for someone looking for their one and only furry friend.
