Mocha

Sex: Female
Breed: Mix
Age: 1-2 years old
Although she looks like a big dog this little girl is a big dog in a small package. Meet Mocha!
Mocha found herself at Kern County Animal Services after she’d been picked up as a stray. We couldn’t resist her soulful eyes so she joined the Marleys Mutts crew.
Mocha is a fun and active dog and would do best with an active family who has another fun dog in the home. She wants to run and play with her canine friends and does the best zoomies. She’s a tiny 27lbs which is perfectly fun sized. So far she seems house trained in her foster home and is perfect in the crate.
If you’re looking for a cool dog in a compact package Mocha just might be your girl!

Volunteer of the Quarter: Anastasia

Mutt Militia, meet Anastasia, our volunteer of the quarter! Anastasia has been volunteering with Marley’s Mutts for the past 5 months. She has always had a special place in her heart for dogs and had been following Marley’s Mutts for quite some time when she finally found a little extra time to become a volunteer. Anastasia’s favorite part of volunteering with Marley’s Mutts is just hanging out with the dogs and giving them all of her attention, from snuggles and walks to throwing the ball for them. She wants each dog to feel special and loved during her time with them.  “Volunteering is the best feeling ever! Every time I leave the Ranch, my heart is so full of joy! The bond that you can create with the dogs are unlike any other.” Anastasia has a 9 year old terrier mix, Emma, and a 1 year old pit shepherd mix, Arnold. Aside from volunteering she enjoys snowboarding, cross fit and most of all, her 5 year old daughter, Scarlett.

Thank you, Anastasia for sharing your time with Marley’s Mutts!

Disco

Sex: Male
Breed: Chihuahua x
Age: 2 years old

When you’ve got the coolest eyes on the planet you need the coolest name to go with them…..

Meet Disco!

This awesome little guy found himself at Kern County Animal services with some penis issues. We’re working on the issues it’ll just take some time for him to fully heal. While he’s healing he’s quickly settling into foster care. He loves playing with all the dogs both big and small and even likes respectful children. He’s basically a great little guy! It’ll take about a month for him to heal and he’ll be ready for adoption.

Steve

Sex: Male
Breed:  Corgi/catahoula leopard dog x
Age: 2 years old

Meet Cool Dude Steve!

This guy has a look all his own and we couldn’t love it more! Steve was picked up as a stray in a rural area and taken to Kern County Animal Services. This short stack was very shut down in the shelter environment so he joined the Marleys Mutts team!

Steve is slowly coming around in foster care. He’s likely never lived inside a house based on his behavior when inside his fosters home. But we’ll show him the ropes. He’ll just need time to learn that inside living is pretty amazing! As we just pulled him we’re still getting to know his personality and temperament. We don’t know if he likes other dogs, cats or children at this time but should have more information as he acclimates in foster care.

Harvey

Sex: Male
Breed:  Pekinese/Pomeranian x
Age: 2 year old

If you like the fluffies Harvey is the perfect boy for you! He’s happy and playful and oh so fun. He was picked up by Kern County Animal Services as a stray and his family never came for him. He was pretty matted when he arrived at the shelter so they shaved him down. When his fur grows back he’ll have glorious long locks.

Harveys got a good amount of energy and spunk. We’re working on his crate training skills (he’s not a fan of that lol). As we get to know more about Harvey we’ll have a better feel about his interactions with other dogs and a better idea of what his perfect home looks like

Karen

Sex: Female
Breed: Chihuahua
Age: 7-8 years old
Don’t let her tiny 5lb frame fool you Karen is a spitfire! She’s fiesty and spoiled and just a bit naughty. She likes people of all sizes but would like to be your one and only canine companion unless her future canine friend is good at ignoring other dogs cause that’s what this little girl wants. She’s too good for all the dog stuff anyway didn’t you know lol.
We picked her up from Kern County Animal Services after she’d been picked up as a stray. She couldn’t believe she was stuck on the streets because that doesn’t fit into the Princess lifestyle she’s envisioned for herself. So if you like  tiny dogs with a bit of tude Karen is the one for you.

Dodger

Sex: Male
Breed: Long hair doxie cross
Age: 3 years old
Sex: Male
Breed: Long haired Doxie Mix
Age: 3 years old
With a face this adorable you’re guaranteed to get lots of applications but Dodger is going to take the right home. Dodger lost his family when they moved and couldn’t take him with them. As a Doxie x he has some of their less desirable traits. He likes the sound of his own voice and will use it. Not everyone enjoys a barking dog or is willing to do the work to manage barking behaviors. Dodger needs a family willing to put in that work.
In true Doxie fashion Dodger will also need a family willing to continue working on his house training skills. This will be a work in progress until he gets it and doxies can notoriously be stubborn with house training.
Dodger also needs a family willing to understand that he’s shy and just a bit insecure. He needs people willing to give him the time to feel comfortable in new environments and not rush him. If you give him that time he’ll love you forever.
We feel Dodger would do best in a home with older respectful children. Young children will just make him nervous. He’d do well as your one and only or  with a confident but calm dog to help him feel secure. Think you can give Dodger the home environment he needs? Apply today!

Toby

Sex: Male
Breed: German Shepherd
Age: 2 years old
There’s not much more majestic than a Shepherd. Toby is about as beautiful as they come. This guy is big, gorgeous and active!
Toby found himself at Kern County Animal Services after he’d been picked up as a stray. We don’t know  why his family didn’t come for him but we were thankful we had room at the ranch to help.
We’re still getting to know Toby so don’t have details on his temperament with other dogs, cats or children but will access those things over the next several weeks.

Bella

Sex: Female
Breed: Terrier x
Age: 7 years old
Bella has a bit of a story and has been a repeat visitor at Kern County Animal Services. 9 visits to be exact and those were just the visits at the county shelter. Rumor has it she’s also visited our city shelter. You might be wondering why she’s gotten out so much. Well her family has an a disabled child who we guess was accidentally letting Bella out. Bella is very lucky that she was never hit by a car on her adventures. Life on the streets is no life for any dog. We are so thankful we can give Bella the chance at a safer life.
We are still getting to know Bella and should have more info over the next couple of weeks. Right now we do know that she can be a runner so a home that can keep her safely contained will be a must. She also doesn’t do well with cats. Stay tuned as we learn more about Bella and what will be her perfect home environment.
