Volunteer of the Quarter: Anastasia

Mutt Militia, meet Anastasia, our volunteer of the quarter! Anastasia has been volunteering with Marley’s Mutts for the past 5 months. She has always had a special place in her heart for dogs and had been following Marley’s Mutts for quite some time when she finally found a little extra time to become a volunteer. Anastasia’s favorite part of volunteering with Marley’s Mutts is just hanging out with the dogs and giving them all of her attention, from snuggles and walks to throwing the ball for them. She wants each dog to feel special and loved during her time with them.  “Volunteering is the best feeling ever! Every time I leave the Ranch, my heart is so full of joy! The bond that you can create with the dogs are unlike any other.” Anastasia has a 9 year old terrier mix, Emma, and a 1 year old pit shepherd mix, Arnold. Aside from volunteering she enjoys snowboarding, cross fit and most of all, her 5 year old daughter, Scarlett.

Thank you, Anastasia for sharing your time with Marley’s Mutts!

Volunteer of the Quarter – Patty Souza

Mutt Militia, meet our Volunteer of the Quarter, Patty Souza. Patty has always been a “Big Fan of Zack Skow’s “Marley’s Mutts” & all the time, love & care he gives to each animal.”
“I’ve wanted to volunteer for years, but owning a winery & tasting room, there was never enough time. When I retired, I finally had the opportunity. I started in January 2020, as a volunteer with Marley’s Mittens. My favorite part about volunteering is knowing I can make a difference caring for the kitties & of course all the love they give back in return. If anyone is considering becoming a volunteer, I highly recommend working with the dogs or kitties. There is nothing more rewarding than being able to make a difference in the life of these sweet babies.
Right now I have 2 kitties, “Mini”, my sweet girl & my “Rocky” or Roo-Roo for short.
I’m quite honored to have been selected for “Volunteer of the Quarter”..Wow! Thank You “Marleys Mutts
“Fun Fact” …Cats are like Potato Chips, You can Never have just One”

Volunteer of the Quarter

Mutt Militia, meet Connie Rocke, our Volunteer of the Quarter! Connie started following Marley’s Mutts when she moved to the Tehachapi area in 2012. She was impressed with all we did for rescue dogs and other animals. Connie was retired and had some extra time so she decided to start volunteering at the Rescue Ranch nearly three years ago.
Connie enjoys meeting all the different people at the Ranch and says the staff, fosters and volunteers she has worked with are all fabulous! “Everyone is so warm and welcoming. It’s like a wonderful family.” Some of Connie’s favorite things about volunteering at the Ranch are the community pack walks, holiday decorating and volunteer days. The rescue dogs are special to Connie and it gives her great joy to walk them and give them clean warm blankets. “They are all beautiful, bright and funny in their own way.”
Her advice to anyone thinking about volunteering at the Ranch is to find work that you enjoy. “There is so much to do here at the Marley’s Mutts Ranch. It’s great for retired people like me. There’s plenty to do that doesn’t require heavy strenuous work. Walking dogs is easy. If I can’t lug 50 pounds of dog food around, I’ll just ask for anyone I find to help me as they are happy to lend a hand. That’s important to me”
Connie has 2 dogs of her own, a Doberman named Jake, age 5 and Doberman mix, Jasper, age 8. Jasper even won first place at an agility competition when she was two years old! While Connie was holding the award, Jasper jumped up, grabbed the award and started shredding it! “That is her fun sneaky self.”
Thank you Connie for all you have done and continue to do!
