Sugar and spice and everything nice. If you’re looking for cute and looking for fun Bette just may be your #1! This little girl is a riot. Not only does she have the punk rock hair going on but she’s literally the life of the party. She’s got spunk and she’s got sass and her 11lb body doesn’t hold her back. She wants to play!!! And when we say play we mean she wants to play with everyone. Big dogs, small dogs and everything in between she’s absolutely the playing queen. She’s got hops for days, you’ve never seen a small dog jump so high and if there’s a game of ball or chase she’s going to join right in. So much spunk in such a tiny package.

Like so many other dogs Bette found herself at our city shelter. We’re not sure why her family didn’t claim her but we absolutely had a foster spot for her. She settled in pretty quick and has been giving her foster siblings a run for their money. She’ll pester them for play and when she gets rough they’ve been showing her the ropes. A correction and a check is what all wild children need and Bette is learning the rules of an appropriate playtime routine.

But play isn’t her only side she’s also snuggly and sweet. She loves to be cuddled and will tuck herself right into your shoulder like she's hugging you. Her time in foster care is filled with lots of fun but we’re also working on the skills she’ll need for adoption. She came to us with no house training manners. She quickly picked up on potty pads and her foster is working on transitioning that to outside potty time. She’s super smart so we know she’ll get it, it’ll just take time and consistency. Bette’s future home should be willing to continue her house training routine and love a little bit of fun. Another playful dog would be a plus and we think she’d do great with older respectful children. If you like sugar and spice and just a touch of sass consider making Bette part of your family.

Here’s what you need to know about adopting a cat or dog from Marley's Mutts:

  • Each adoptable pet will be introduced on Facebook

  • Each pet will have its own profile here on the website

  • All pets will be spayed or neutered

  • All pets will be micro-chipped and shots will be up-to-date

  • Each pet has their own application to complete—make sure you use the right one (linked from their bio)

It’s important to us that each pet goes not just to a great home but to the “right” home. Our foster parents work with each pet to get to know them and their needs.

We try hard to list all of the pertinent info about each pet on the site so you can choose the pet that will fit with your family/lifestyle. If you don’t see a specific pet on the site, he/she is not ready for adoption. Please be patient and wait until the bio is listed. We don’t decide on a “first come, first served” basis but rather on a “who’s the very best fit.” So, don’t panic.

It’s not a quick process. We receive dozens of applications for each pet so please be patient. If you’re shortlisted you’ll be contacted as soon as possible.

If selected to meet one of our pets and you currently have pets, you’ll be asked to do an in-person pet intro; we don’t do the long-distance adoption thing. If you live out of town, plan a fun road trip to meet the pet in person.

Don’t be discouraged if your application is not selected. Remember, we get a lot of them! Trust us, the best fit for you is coming.

If you’re lucky and you do adopt a super amazing pet from Marley’s Mutts, don’t ever hesitate to reach out to us for training, medication, or behavior questions. We’re here for you, and your pet.
