Cooper

Sex: Male

Breed: German Shepherd/Rottweiler/Pit Bull x

Estimated Date of Birth : 09/17/2022

Looking for an all around good boy? The kind of mutt who can live with just about anyone? Then you need to meet Cooper! Cooper is DNA tested and a true perfect mutt blend: 60% German Shepherd, 20% Rottie, and 20% pit bull. What a gorgeous boy that mix has made. At 100lbs he’s also a BIG boy but don’t let his size intimidate you he’s a lover not a fighter. He’s lived with and done great with dogs, cats and donkeys. He is fine with little dogs and dominant dogs. Currently he’s fostered with a dominant, social female pitbull and they get along great. He is dominant himself, but very social and has been to dog parks and camped with many dogs. He is very playful with other dogs and we’d love to see him adopted into a home with another fun dog he can pal around with. He’s affectionate with his kitty friends and very respectful around the donkeys. Cooper is kind of the ultimate catch so it makes it hard to believe no one ever claimed him.

Cooper was originally found running the streets on a rainy night and was taken to the shelter. Sadly, his family never came to look for him. Their loss was our gain and Cooper landed a spot with one of our amazing foster families. This family sets their fosters up right and works really hard to ensure each dog goes into the perfect adoptive home. Cooper has attended obedience classes weekly and has good basic training skills. He’s both crate trained and house trained. He’s around lots of people and dogs regularly and always does great. He loves men, women and children equally. He is not protective and tends to act more like a labrador in personality. He walks nicely on leash and does not jump on people (thankfully because he is too big for that).  He is an excellent car traveler and has made a multi-day trip across multiple states including camping in a fifth wheel.

Cooper has a low to medium energy. He is not hyper, but really likes his walks.  He hikes with his foster family off leash most days for approximately 3 miles. He is a great off leash dog. Cooper is crate trained and stays in a crate when he can’t be supervised. He does not have separation anxiety. He is not an escape artist and can be left outside, but his area needs to be puppy-proofed. He can be mischievous when he is alone – he is a perfect angel when you are home. This is a perfect take to work dog. He is capable of laying around for long hours while you work. We would love to see Cooper with a family that loves big dogs, is moderately active, has another playful/young dog, can spend regular time with him to continue his training and will take him on many adventures/experiences.  He is definitely not a dog that is meant to live in a backyard or be a couch potato.  Cooper has therapy dog potential. He’s been assessed and he is really that awesome! Sonia if you’ve been looking for the best big dog ever take a minute and check out Cooper! You won’t be disappointed.

Here’s what you need to know about adopting a cat or dog from Marley's Mutts:

  • Each adoptable pet will be introduced on Facebook

  • Each pet will have its own profile here on the website

  • All pets will be spayed or neutered

  • All pets will be micro-chipped and shots will be up-to-date

  • Each pet has their own application to complete—make sure you use the right one (linked from their bio)

It’s important to us that each pet goes not just to a great home but to the “right” home. Our foster parents work with each pet to get to know them and their needs.

We try hard to list all of the pertinent info about each pet on the site so you can choose the pet that will fit with your family/lifestyle. If you don’t see a specific pet on the site, he/she is not ready for adoption. Please be patient and wait until the bio is listed. We don’t decide on a “first come, first served” basis but rather on a “who’s the very best fit.” So, don’t panic.

It’s not a quick process. We receive dozens of applications for each pet so please be patient. If you’re shortlisted you’ll be contacted as soon as possible.

If selected to meet one of our pets and you currently have pets, you’ll be asked to do an in-person pet intro; we don’t do the long-distance adoption thing. If you live out of town, plan a fun road trip to meet the pet in person.

Don’t be discouraged if your application is not selected. Remember, we get a lot of them! Trust us, the best fit for you is coming.

If you’re lucky and you do adopt a super amazing pet from Marley’s Mutts, don’t ever hesitate to reach out to us for training, medication, or behavior questions. We’re here for you, and your pet.
