Holly is the reason rescues exist to give dogs not blessed with a good beginning the chance at an amazing life! Just a tiny little puppy this sweet girl has her whole life ahead of her and we’re determined to not only give her the 2nd chance she needed but set her up for success with the perfect puppy foundation. She’s getting super socialized in her foster home and once adoptable will be well versed with other dogs and even kitties. She’s already a sweetheart so this foundation will make her that much more of an amazing family companion.
Holly’s beginning was a sad one. Likely abandoned because she has front limb malformations. Basically her little front legs are not straight and curve in. We suspect she was dumped by whoever bred her. It’s hard to sell a puppy who isn’t perfect and so Holly was considered disposable. We may not be able to fix the mindset of the backyard breeders who throw these little ones away because they are less than perfect but we can absolutely pickup the pieces and give these innocent souls the chance they need to live an amazing life. Holly is getting her chance and our vet feels she has a chance at a therapeutic recovery.
While we do not have a specific timeline for her recovery Holly will have her front legs splinted for the foreseeable future. Those splints as well as the appropriate nutrition and exercise our vet is hopeful will correct the curvature of her legs. Straightening out her legs will reduce future medical issues as she grows and develops. While Holly heals she will remain in foster care socializing and gaining all the positive experiences puppy’s need to become amazing adult dogs. Holly is already an incredibly sweet girl and so social with everyone we know her future is going to be bright. If you’d like to be considered as a future adopter for this sweet girl please apply and our adoption team will keep you posted on her progress.
Here’s what you need to know about adopting a cat or dog from Marley's Mutts:
Each adoptable pet will be introduced on Facebook
Each pet will have its own profile here on the website
All pets will be spayed or neutered
All pets will be micro-chipped and shots will be up-to-date
Each pet has their own application to complete—make sure you use the right one (linked from their bio)
It’s important to us that each pet goes not just to a great home but to the “right” home. Our foster parents work with each pet to get to know them and their needs.
We try hard to list all of the pertinent info about each pet on the site so you can choose the pet that will fit with your family/lifestyle. If you don’t see a specific pet on the site, he/she is not ready for adoption. Please be patient and wait until the bio is listed. We don’t decide on a “first come, first served” basis but rather on a “who’s the very best fit.” So, don’t panic.
It’s not a quick process. We receive dozens of applications for each pet so please be patient. If you’re shortlisted you’ll be contacted as soon as possible.
If selected to meet one of our pets and you currently have pets, you’ll be asked to do an in-person pet intro; we don’t do the long-distance adoption thing. If you live out of town, plan a fun road trip to meet the pet in person.
Don’t be discouraged if your application is not selected. Remember, we get a lot of them! Trust us, the best fit for you is coming.
If you’re lucky and you do adopt a super amazing pet from Marley’s Mutts, don’t ever hesitate to reach out to us for training, medication, or behavior questions. We’re here for you, and your pet.
