Percy

Sex: Male

Breed: Pitbull x

Estimated Date of Birth : 06/03/2023

Percy is LOVING foster life. He’s got a fantastic foster family and they’ve been working hard to give him some of the basics. It’s a far cry from the shelter life he knew. He and his siblings were very lucky to make it out of the shelter system as black dogs, even puppies, struggle to find adopters. But Percy has left his past behind and is only looking forward. He has lots of fun energy and has gained a ton of positive social skills while in foster care. This sweet boy loves children especially the 1-9 year range cause let’s face it they’re as fun loving as he is. He’s been great with dogs of all sizes and he’s even learning to like kitties. He totally understands the term “murder claws” now lol. Foster life is great according to Percy and those skills he’s learning mean he’s ready to start searching for his very own home.

Percy and his siblings came very close to never having this chance. Because of their dark color and breed they lingered for months at our city shelter. They were growing up in shelter kennels and the smooth floors of those kennels were having a negative impact on their legs. Puppies need to run and play for appropriate growth and development and this crew needed out immediately! We put out pleas across social media and so many wonderful families stepped up to foster giving us room to rescue Percy and his siblings.

Life in foster care means Percy is working on all the things manners included. Potty training is still a work in progress just as it is for all puppies. He’s learning that stuff on the counters doesn’t belong to him. He’s learned sit, stay and crawl cause good puppies know stuff. He loves belly rubs and cuddling on the couch. His perfect family would be willing to meet his energy needs and continue his training so he grows into the amazing adult dog we know he can be. We’d love to see him in a home with another fun and active dog and maybe even a few kiddos to call his own. This sweet boy has come so far from the scared shelter pup who almost didn’t get his chance. We’re ready to find the family that will continue to help him shine.

Here’s what you need to know about adopting a cat or dog from Marley's Mutts:

  • Each adoptable pet will be introduced on Facebook

  • Each pet will have its own profile here on the website

  • All pets will be spayed or neutered

  • All pets will be micro-chipped and shots will be up-to-date

  • Each pet has their own application to complete—make sure you use the right one (linked from their bio)

It’s important to us that each pet goes not just to a great home but to the “right” home. Our foster parents work with each pet to get to know them and their needs.

We try hard to list all of the pertinent info about each pet on the site so you can choose the pet that will fit with your family/lifestyle. If you don’t see a specific pet on the site, he/she is not ready for adoption. Please be patient and wait until the bio is listed. We don’t decide on a “first come, first served” basis but rather on a “who’s the very best fit.” So, don’t panic.

It’s not a quick process. We receive dozens of applications for each pet so please be patient. If you’re shortlisted you’ll be contacted as soon as possible.

If selected to meet one of our pets and you currently have pets, you’ll be asked to do an in-person pet intro; we don’t do the long-distance adoption thing. If you live out of town, plan a fun road trip to meet the pet in person.

Don’t be discouraged if your application is not selected. Remember, we get a lot of them! Trust us, the best fit for you is coming.

If you’re lucky and you do adopt a super amazing pet from Marley’s Mutts, don’t ever hesitate to reach out to us for training, medication, or behavior questions. We’re here for you, and your pet.
