Marley’s Mutts Dog Rescue is not only dedicated to the rescue and the welfare of animals but also is committed to helping address the overpopulation epidemic in Kern County. This dedication helped propel the newest division within Marley’s Mutts, Spay and Neuter. As it is our belief that offering low cost spay/neuter to targeted areas together with educating the public will not only decrease the shelter intake but create a cycle of awareness beginning from grade school age into adulthood. Our mission is to not only empower the community with knowledge and insight but give them the confidence and ability to be part of the solution. To that end, we have partnered with Kern County Animal Services, Critters Without Litters, San Joaquin Veterinary Hospital, 4 Paws Animal Hospital and Auburn Animal Hospital to provide low-cost spay and neuter services to county residents.
Eligibility based on zip code and income requirements. Owned pets only. Must reside in Kern County.
You must have current ID or utility bill to provide address. Maximum of 3 vouchers per household. Dogs only. If you have any questions about the spay & neuter program please email email@example.com or call 661-556-7177.
Check the KCAS website for additional sources for voucher programs or Friends of Kern Shelters.
After careful consideration Marley’s Mutts is discontinuing our Spay & Neuter assistance program. Over three years we have spayed and neutered over 4,900 dogs. We have subsidized every surgery at $30-$40 per surgery. Thanks to the generous support of our Mutt Militia we have donated over $160,000 directly to cover vet bills. This does not include staff and supplies to run the program.
We are redirecting our resources and Mutt Militia volunteers efforts to help Kern County Animal Services with mobile clinics. This will give us a greater impact to save lives and utilize resources both financial and volunteers in a manner that can be more effective to Make Kern NO KILL.
