Sex: Female

Breed:Pitbull x

Estimated Date of Birth : 12/21/2021

We know we say it a lot but momma dogs are AMAZING!!! Gretchen was a wonderful and protective mom and is going to be an even better family dog. She’s thriving in foster care and happy to be done with her motherhood duties. This sweet girl is great with dogs of all sizes and super responsive to everything she’s learning in foster care. Happy and fun she’s got a nice amount of young dog energy that would make her the perfect playmate to kids and dogs alike. Such a good girl we hate to think how close she came to never having a 2nd chance.

Gretchen originally came into our county shelter with 5 tiny babies in tow. A black pittie mix with babies standing almost no chance of making it out alive. Sadly that’s the fate for so many pitties and momma pitties struggle even more. But this little family got lucky. An amazing foster home stepped up and saved their lives. Gretchen raised her pups in the safety of rescue and is now ready to find her perfect home.

Gretchen is happy and fun and just an all around good girl. She has wonderful dog to dog communication skills and reads their subtle cues well. She’s been great with all dogs regardless of size or energy level. She LOVES food and is very food motivated. This makes training easy and since we’re working on getting her weight back up (puppies take everything from their mommas) she’s getting all the food which she thoroughly enjoys. She loves children, is cat curious (no formal intros with kitties yet) and is not a fan of birds so a home with pet birds wouldn’t be her ideal fit. She’s working on her house training skills and doing great and is ready to bring her sweetness to your family. If you’ve been looking for a fantastic family dog Gretchen is definitely the one for you!

Here’s what you need to know about adopting a cat or dog from Marley's Mutts:

  • Each adoptable pet will be introduced on Facebook

  • Each pet will have its own profile here on the website

  • All pets will be spayed or neutered

  • All pets will be micro-chipped and shots will be up-to-date

  • Each pet has their own application to complete—make sure you use the right one (linked from their bio)

It’s important to us that each pet goes not just to a great home but to the “right” home. Our foster parents work with each pet to get to know them and their needs.

We try hard to list all of the pertinent info about each pet on the site so you can choose the pet that will fit with your family/lifestyle. If you don’t see a specific pet on the site, he/she is not ready for adoption. Please be patient and wait until the bio is listed. We don’t decide on a “first come, first served” basis but rather on a “who’s the very best fit.” So, don’t panic.

It’s not a quick process. We receive dozens of applications for each pet so please be patient. If you’re shortlisted you’ll be contacted as soon as possible.

If selected to meet one of our pets and you currently have pets, you’ll be asked to do an in-person pet intro; we don’t do the long-distance adoption thing. If you live out of town, plan a fun road trip to meet the pet in person.

Don’t be discouraged if your application is not selected. Remember, we get a lot of them! Trust us, the best fit for you is coming.

If you’re lucky and you do adopt a super amazing pet from Marley’s Mutts, don’t ever hesitate to reach out to us for training, medication, or behavior questions. We’re here for you, and your pet.
